PA legalization bill
« on: March 06, 2017, 05:46:10 PM »
HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania's elected fiscal watchdog said the state government could help its chronic budget deficit by raking in tax revenues from the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale said Monday the state could bring in $200 million or more annually, based on what has occurred during legalization in Colorado.

"The regulation and taxation of the marijuana train has rumbled out of the station, and it is time to add a stop in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," DePasquale said during a news conference at the state capitol.

DePasquale, a Democrat, called the legalization of recreational marijuana something that "can be both good socially and fiscally."

"The revenue that could be generated would help address Pennsylvania’s revenue and spending issue, but there is more to this than simply tax dollars and jobs," DePasquale said. "There is also social impact, specifically related to arrests, and the personal, emotional, and financial devastation that may result from such arrests."

Pennsylvania has legalized medical marijuana and is in the process of setting up a system to grow, sell and regulate it.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws said 20 states have decriminalized marijuana, a list that does not include Pennsylvania.

It would all be great if the Feds stopped with the reefer madness mentality already and conceded this can be good for everyone. It's ok to be concerned and cautious just don;t be a douche bag about it. get the facts before you spew shit out of your mouth/ass (indistinguishable in some cases) . Talking directly  to you Jeff Sessions and all like-minded extry-conservative polyticians.    :spankherself: :dogg:

Great for PA, but the fed level is where it's at. How long do we play this game? 25 states decriminalized? 30, 40...? How flipping stupid.

Perhaps some of these folks that imagine themselves following the Will of God by keeping that demon weed prohibited should read this - http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-to-move-ahead-with-decriminalizing-marijuana/

Yep, you read that right. Folks are know going to be able to toke it up in decriminalized fashion in the 'Holy Land.' That's going to drive some of these fanatics bat-shit crazy... :Smokey:

I am glad to see Israel going forward with decriminalizing weed,
I still think they are asking too much with their plan to fine the 1st offense at $250+
the 2nd offense at $500+ but that is for getting caught in public smoking doobies.
I'm sure if the offender was living in a van down by the river things might be different

They got ready access to African weed... plus the bounty of the Euro growers too. Pretty sure Germans and their scientific emphasis got this shit down pat for indoor grows - they just don't have the room to grow enough lol. I buy my Kakteen fertilizer for my Cactus straight from Deutschland, cause no one else knows how to do it like them despite these being new World plants. So i suspect the indoor agricultural tech coming from there may be superior or at least on the  cutting edge at times.

I lived in Pennsylvania my whole life and it always felt like a state with a huge stick up its ass. Never breaking the rules. Never doing more than they needed to do. Over the last decade some things like beer sales in grocery stores has cropped up quite a bit. Casinos popped up over the last decade. May seem like little things to people in other states but for PA it's progress.

The medical MJ that passed last year really blew me away. Didn't expect that, even in its more strict regulations than other states. I always told other people that if the people with chronic illness's can at least get theirs without the hassle of feeling like a criminal, then that's just fine with me if that's all the further it goes.

Don't know if recreational will happen anytime soon, or at the very least until the FED get their head out of their asses and remove it from the scheduled drug list, but one can dream. Didn't foresee what we have today throughout the country 10 years ago, so I'm optimistic for things going in the right direction sooner than later.  :steamroller
