I was able to modify some code in the shoutbox today. SMF has a lot of limitations. There is now an audible 1 second tone when a new shout gets posted. I do not have an interface to turn it off so it is on all the time. If there is a way I can make it a choice, I will find it. The goal being a check box if you do or don't want to here the sound. But for now a lot of people that use the shoutbox heavily got there wish! :passing-joint:

That's great AciD; was hearing the sound and kept checking to see if I had inadvertently entered the chat. Thanks!

I keep hearing the tone but nothing has changed in shoutbox?
Yeah, it is happening when you refresh a page. There are bugs in it still but I am trying to work it. SMF(Simple Machines Forum) has no support like PHPbb but it is so much more secure that I went with it and it's limitations.

Thanks dude. I just shut it down until I can get it to stop dinging on page refresh. I will get it figured out. Any PHP coders here?
