Post your best BHO/CHO (wax, oil and shatter) here
BHO is butane (extracted) hash oil
CHO is carbon dioxide (extracted) hash oil

Since those are so concentrated would eating them be much better than typical edibles?
-
Funny you ask that, because we use this (and keif) for making edibles and tinctures.
You avoid using all the plant material.
You don't have to de-carboxolize the material.
And it is more accurate to use in recipes because regardless of the strains used the end product is always 70%+ cannabinoids (if the starting material is relatively good frosty trim)
Much beter to smoke though :steamroller

Where I find some? Legally
Unfortunately even in medical marijuana states, extracts like hash oil are still technically Schedule 1... meaning they are illegal.
Many clubs refuse to carry extracts (hash, keif, wax) because of the legal "grey area"
Other don't seem to care.

I was gonna make some hash with my trim and some edibles too.Cant wait man
Got like 30 days to go

That shit would last me a fucking DECADE.... :getstones

Man. I wouldn't mind a brick like that.

White OG Kush (White Triangle Kush x OG Kush) BHO
It looks all whipped up and funny because it just came out of the Vacuum Dryer (a machine that completely purges the material of all the butane, while slowly decarboxylating it as well)

My buddy runs a company called "Dunkin Dabbers" that makes BHO for the clubs. I just snapped the pic because I was like "whoa, that shit looks crazy!"
:smoking-hookah:

Technically, any nonpolar solvent would work well for this, including pentane or hexane and would be a lot safer to use than butane, especially if one has access to some form of vacuum source to remove any residual solvent from the extracts.
I would think any solvent with a low chlorophyll solubility would be useful for this endeavor.
-
Ngls, I totally agree.
I have tried to tell him this, but he doesn't want to listen.
The industry (Hash oil makers) all use the Vector 7x (7 times filtered) butane. They all buy it by the master case (12 boxes of 12 cans each).
Some people use carbon dioxide, but the machines are extremely expensive ($20,000)
Not sure why they all use propane, but they ALL DO. I think they are just afraid to try something different :hammertime:
I really only like smoking my buddies wax because he is one of the few people that has a vacuum oven, so I know his oil is clean

Yes, a vacium bell or a vacuum oven would make almost anything work. For budding extractors (small pun there) don't use anything as a solvent with a hydroxyl group (+OH) attached as you will get a lot of the plant waxes and chlorophyl along with your precious actives. Solvents to avoid in this situation would be alcohols, acetone, xylene, MEK etc. Some terpenes are ok, some are not (isoprene, limonene ok). The advantage of the simple alkanes are their vapor pressure and high evaporation rates, and their availability.
If this was commercial production, supercritical fluid extraction with carbon dioxide would be ideal. Maybe it will come to that.

10 grams of Blue Diesel shatter (Blue Dream x Sour Diesel). It looks wet but it is actually solid. The previous batch my buddy made tested at 83.1% THC

Tell your buddy good job 83% holy shit. Thanks for the pics dub. You are a lucky man to get to sample all that goodness. I need to try this one day. Looks so freaking awesome.
-
blue dream x sour d sounds hella good prob some beast in them plants!
-
So I got a question how is it possible to achieve these high levels of THC if say the plant you are using has 20% THC?

So I got a question how is it possible to achieve these high levels of THC if say the plant you are using has 20% THC?
You are extracting the THC from the plant matter using supercritical fluid extraction.
This means that even if the plant has 20% THC by volume, you are removing the weight of the plant from the equasion, upping the % of THC vs other adulterants, including CBD's, etc.
 :beers:

Dub ...Will You Adopt Me? I eat a lot and smoke even more...I take really shits early in the morning and I snore. loud...I am a keeper..I need to go buy my wife something nice..

You are extracting the THC from the plant matter using hypercritical fluid extraction.
This means that even if the plant has 20% THC by volume, you are removing the weight of the plant from the equasion, upping the % of THC vs other adulterants, including CBD's, etc.

Thanks D3 for the feedback I appreciate it.

Does the wax smell like pot or butane?
Hash-like aroma. Especially when it's being dabbed/smoked.
If it is purged correctly there should be no butane in the wax/oil at all.
-
So how much plant material would you need to make the 10 grams as stated?
-
Depends on what the starting material used is.
The same as the saying " garbage in garbage out" is true with hash oil.
When using low grade trim and shade leaf, or outdoor, the yield is much lower and the product more oily and wet.
A pound of this level can yield up to an ounce of finished product.
To get this level of shatter, people use the trim that trimmers shave of the buds when manicuring, as well as all the smaller "popcorn" nugs and larfy bud stuff.
Typically, a pound of this kind of trim will yield about 1.5 - 2 ounces (56 grams) of finished, purged, cured product.
My friends that smoke mainly oil and make it themselves use pure bud for their runs. As in all top buds, stored in the freezer until processed.
Yield can go up to 3 ounces, but the quality goes up about another 10% as opposed to the small bud/trim runs.
So I guess you can say to make that 10 grams of shatter you would need about 1/4 pound to 1/2 pound of high grade, indoor trim and small buds.
-
Thanks dub for the insight. This is a very interesting topic.

Best way to use the honey oil is a skillet, a dome, or a gpen.
