The National Cancer Institute now lists Cannabis as having strong potential for the treatment of Cancer, yet the DEA still lists Marijuana as a Schedule I substance, which by definition holds no medical application.

The National Cancer Institute’s page for Cannabis and Cannabinoids now lists several preclinical trials and studies in which the compounds have shown beneficial medical applications. While these merits come as no surprise for many, the real shocker here is Marijuana still being listed as a Schedule I substance in the eyes of the DEA.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is the United State’s primary agency in which cancer research and training is conducted. They are part of a larger umbrella of governmental agencies that comprise the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The NCI is largely responsible for the running the National Cancer Program, providing cancer-related information to the public, as well as developing programs and recommendations for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer.

Now listed on the the NCI’s Cannabis and Cannabinoids page, which is assumed to be the United State’s official position regarding Marijuana’s potential application in treating cancer, are the following facts:

Studies in mice and rats have shown that cannabinoids may inhibit tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the development of blood vessels needed by tumors to grow. Laboratory and animal studies have shown that cannabinoids may be able to kill cancer cells while protecting normal cells.
A study in mice showed that cannabinoids may protect against inflammation of the colon and may have potential in reducing the risk of colon cancer, and possibly in its treatment.
A laboratory study of delta-9-THC in hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) cells showed that it damaged or killed the cancer cells. The same study of delta-9-THC in mouse models of liver cancer showed that it had antitumor effects. Delta-9-THC has been shown to cause these effects by acting on molecules that may also be found in non-small cell lung cancer cells and breast cancer cells.
A laboratory study of cannabidiol (CBD) in estrogen receptor positive and estrogen receptor negative breast cancer cells showed that it caused cancer cell death while having little effect on normal breast cells. Studies in mouse models of metastatic breast cancer showed that cannabinoids may lessen the growth, number, and spread of tumors.
A laboratory study of cannabidiol (CBD) in human glioma cells showed that when given along with chemotherapy, CBD may make chemotherapy more effective and increase cancer cell death without harming normal cells. Studies in mouse models of cancer showed that CBD together with delta-9-THC may make chemotherapy such as temozolomide more effective.
The page also discusses several other potential medical applications for Cannabis and Cannabinoids such as pain relief, appetite stimulation, as well as it being an effective treatment for nausea, anxiety, and depression.

The page concludes by stating the FDA has not approved Cannabis or any Cannabinoids for the treatment of cancer, but that two Cannabinoids (dronabinal and nabilone) are currently approved for the treatment of chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting.

The NCI’s page on Cannabinoids and Cannabis as a treatment for cancer gives the impression that the currently schedule I substance, Marijuana, holds tremendous potential for medical applications.

“CANNABINOIDS MAY BE ABLE TO KILL CANCER CELLS WHILE PROTECTING NORMAL CELLS”

The DEA, however, still seems to object to such promising applications as the offical stance of that department is that Marijuana is dangerous; “with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Schedule I drugs are the most dangerous drugs of all the drug schedules with potentially severe psychological or physical dependency.”

It should be noted that Cocaine, is listed as a Schedule II substance; viewed by the DEA has having less potential for harm than Marijuana–which is now viewed by the NCI as being a potential Cancer treatment. Follow that logic; we couldn’t.

The National Cancer Institute’s listing of Cannabis and Cannabinoids as holding tremendous potential for medical applications, particularly as treatments for cancer, clearly contradicts the DEA’s position regarding the Schedule I status of Marijuana. It seems that no one can manage to get on the same page regarding Marijuana, leaving many still pulling from impressions of Reefer Madness to form their opinions.

I think 100 years from now society will look back at chemo and wonder why the hell did we have such a barbaric treatment. Kinda like when you read about brain lobotomizing for mental illness back when it was not at all understood. Its so bad when you think about it, you are killing the body hoping the cancer cells die before the person does. An interesting side note - turmeric, speficially curcumin, is being looked at as a potential cancer preventative agent.

The most practical approach to reduce the morbidity and mortality of cancer is to delay the process of carcinogenesis through the use of chemopreventive agents. This necessitates that safer compounds, especially those derived from natural sources must be critically examined for chemoprevention. A spice common to India and the surrounding regions, is turmeric, derived from the rhizome of Curcuma longa. Pre-clinical studies in a variety of cancer cell lines including breast, cervical, colon, gastric, hepatic, leukemia, oral epithelial, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate have consistently shown that curcumin possesses anti-cancer activity in vitro and in pre-clinical animal models.

Not sure about human models but there seems to be a good bit of reserach on its anti cancerous properties on animals. Obviously this article isn't solid evidence of anything but it will be interesting as the future unfolds - people are beginning to realize that alternative medicines, although dated because of some of the strange terminology, do include some very beneficial plants in them. In Aryurveda, there is a lot of spiritual stuff that doesnt really make sense in todays modern world, but it holds various herbs like bacopa, ashwagandha, turmeric, and others and healing herbs as potent healing medicines. And as more and more data comes out showing potential benefits from these plants, its looking more legit each day.

Jones, the worst part, it takes ALOT of time compared to pills. I need to blend my shit together b4hand, start making kratom tea in batch.

Also chugging nasty grog requires a certain types of person.  My theory is that all kratomists are so because they truly benefit.  Anyone in it halfass doesn't need it biologically ------ enuf to spend the time and drink nasty shit. ..

Cooking is therapeutic for me. Especially now that I understand it as my medicine. And through spices I work medicine into my meals Sometimes.  I can have my relaxation station going off to the side ready for my lighter in between stirring chopping changing tracks on Rdio.

Now ima read what Acid posted

That's a good summary of it all, Acid's link. I Don't understand the energies.  But I would apply their theories on those energies to my herbs possibly.   If I felt I needed to for this our that reason.  Like in TCM , herbs are either hot or cool and should be balanced, makes a certain kind of sense, when I think about my kidneys/liver especially.

The breathing/meditating ------ if you try not to think, that's your task in meditating.  Real simple, try not to think (rather don't invest emotion/consider/think on any thoughts). The breathing etc is a good way to train your brain to forget itself and let soul through.

You can't necessarily stop your monkey brain from chattering but you learn to let it play in the background and focus on breathing/whatever you want.

I almost pm'd this but others could use the info possibly.  Remember to always Google anything this crackpot says.

Spicer turmeric is said to relieve inflammation in the brain, reducing plaques too, so well hat it relieves depression also.

Simon, I put turmeric on skin trying to heal.  Consider mixing with honey or just a little water to paste ----- even rubbing it straight on is worth it. As you go you'll reach as point where this will help,  it's known as "skin food".

But yes it stains like a motherfucker.

Turmeric extracts should be used by everyone who can tolerate it as long as there aren't medical issues or medications that make you feel bad when you do. You could thrown in some powdered root which is cheap in bulk if you want a more balanced spectrum, however I dont see much reason, just my personal experience though.

I found a good one that had a great absorption profile, and have stuck with various brands of the same formulation daily for a few years now. All c3 complexes say take 1 to 3 daily, I have often taken up to 8 a day without a single GI issue. Imagine OTC nsaids daily in high doses and what that would do to your stomach and heart.. not pretty. I take a bunch of other shit too & have zero stomach issues.

Basically its the c3 complex
-500mg total - 475mg of it being cucurminoids - curcumin is the main constituent looked at in most clinical studies I've seen, and the one that has the most clinically powerful effects
-2.5g black pepper - black pepper with regular plain root turmeric alone will boost absorption rates of the various alkaloids, but pairing it with the 95% extract means much greater blood levels of curcumin
-Extra virgin coconut oil

The oil softgels made me switch to this brand, I was using a very similar brand but it was powder in gelatin capsules, not a softgel formulation. The oil means you could take it on an empty stomach and still get full absorption. Great stuff. http://www.amazon.com/Sports-Research-Turmeric-Curcuminoids-Bioperine/dp/B00A39MPNI/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1440294815&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=turmeric+bioperine+olive+oil

I use to have such an itchy and irritated scalp due to years of swimming in public pools for our swim team, and had tons of chlorine pumped in since kids lessons were common. So I had bad skin and sometimes dry hair, but I still swim and now my skin and scalp are no longer flaky. I suspect that a healthy scalp maximizes hair growth too, although this is just me guessing. Acne has decreased as well.

I may have to try this turmeric soft gel, but am weary in general of extracts. Using cheap SWAD brand powder from India, seems to do the trick. However who knows how that's grown, may be full of chemicals. ..
