Dr. Carlo Sommer and The Crusade of Love

Early 80s: This was a local commercial that would run late at night, like during The Late Late Show with David Letterman. Don't know much about the guy but research says he was previously a magician with a few patented tricks. Folks around here (of a certain age) still say "Hello Loves!", and someone just as old will smile, getting the joke.

Not sure if it was related, but there was a local bldg called the Toledo Metaphysical Center. Never anyone in it, but had a phone number on the front. When you called it, a recording would play of a daily "Uplifting Thought", and then it gave the time and temperature and hung up. Who were these people? They didn't really seem to be selling anything? Did they make the world a better place?
