Good idea; physicians are so unwilling to prescribe pain meds now. My wife gets horrible pain from BCG bladder infusion, but all the office will allow for pain is extra strength Tylenol and a relaxer for spasms. Gone through many forums and reddit pages on bladder cancer, and the most common ground I see is on pain, and how little the medical community has advanced towards addressing pain levels.

Hello PlanetX
Not an exact fit in this thread but it inspired me to respond.
I’ve been going to the Dayton Pain Clinic for a while now, and they’ve been a real help. I take tramadol twice a day and have had multiple ablations and trigger point injections over the past two years. I’m dealing with degenerative spine disease, four herniated discs, a Chiari malformation, and a past spinal fracture.
I also use a few gummies and occasionally smoke a little cannabis — it helps with pain and sleep. The tricky part is that I get drug tested about once a month, so I have to be careful not to overdo it or risk losing access to my meds.
Sometimes I wonder if my care is being viewed as palliative just because I’m almost 72. I’m grateful for the relief I’ve gotten, but I still want to feel like I’m working toward something — not just coasting. Anyone else navigating this kind of balance? I am staying active, working part time as remote supplier quality subcontractor for Raytheon, Boeing, Spirit, Lufthansa and Elbit. Usually low volume projects 2 or 3 days a week. Without the pain meds I couldn't do it.

Good morning. Actually glad to read your post; I'm dealing with back issues too. Failed microdiscectomy of L4-L5, spine spurs, scoliosis, several bulging discs, T12-L1 marrow edema and foraminal stenosis (whatever that is), and of course the ever present degenerative disc disease. Apparently, I'm not getting any taller. Just learned the last few items at MRI last week. I gotta get more x-rays and meet with a spine specialist next week.
For my pain, I take Norco 3x a day, and Flexiril 2x. My physician is in Ohio, but I'm a MI resident; I might get drug tested once a year, and my provider expects to see cannabis show up on my drug screens, as I have been quite up front about everything I use. Incidentally, I did get called for a pill count one time; I let 12 hours lapse between pills when I dropped pee, and was flagged because there was no hydromorphone showing up on the test. I'm curious why your health care provider tests you so often, and if there would be an objection to cannabis use if it effectively manages at least some of your pain. My doc said: 1) She prefers that I use cannabis when needed rather than step up to pain mgmt and dealing with something like fentanyl. 2) She also said that its legally available recreationally here, and she didn't feel right restricting me from something legal. I felt it best to be 100% open with my dr. and it worked out in my favor; maybe your physician would be open to a little natural healing on your part. Just a thought.
Edit/PS: I often wondered what my employment situation would be if I could work in my previous position, CDL and all, and taking hydros daily for pain. First thing I see people in cop cam videos get asked when pulled over is: Have you been drinking or taken any medications?
I absolutely wish you the best of health, and I want you to know you are not alone.

I go to the Dayton Pain Clinic (DOC) because the Premier Health Pain Clinic in Middletown doesn’t prescribe pain medications.
My family doctor gives me 0.25 mg of Xanax, which I’ve been taking for 25 years, and I take drug tests for her. I used to have an MMJ card, but when it showed up in my medical records, I had to give it up to keep getting my Xanax prescription.
Ohio has some odd laws—MJ is only legal if you buy it in-state.
Pain medications get flagged in a chart if they come from more than one source or exceed a certain level. I can only get a month’s supply of Tramadol at a time, so I visit the pain clinic every month and probably will for the rest of my life.
Don't get me wrong the DOC is great. I get full serve from them. Meds, ablations and trigger points and I recommend the place.
Oh, and thanks again, 420! And the RSO and Bue Dream.
