Cosby
« on: November 17, 2013, 10:37:20 AM »
"It was because of my father that from the ages of seven to fifteen, I thought that my name was Jesus Christ and my brother, Russell, thought that his name was Dammit. "Dammit, will you stop all that noise?" And, "Jesus Christ, sit down!" One day, I'm out playing in the rain, and my father yelled, "Dammit will you get back in here!" I said, "Dad, I'm Jesus Christ!"

I can appreciate this joke on a whole new level now that I have kids. I wouldn't be surprised if my 3-year old thinks that his full name is Goddammit Alexander at this point.

The Cosby Show is my go-to show whenever it's on tvland or syndication. I easily get tired of syndicated shows that are still on/too new--I'm looking at you, How I Met Your Mother and Scrubs.

Scrubs was so original and funny for the first few seasons, then I got sick and tired of JD and Elliot getting back together every few episodes, and JD and Turk's "bromance" got more and more ridiculous...the supporting cast was the main reason I kept watching up to the end--Janitor and Ted especially.

I'm so tired of hearing about rich, powerful men who have no self control-- they make us all look bad

I feel like part of my childhood was yanked out from beneath me. I also grew up on Fat Albert, the Cosby Show, the Huxtables. My parents had his comedy albums and were very selective in not having racy entertainment in the house.  It wouldn't seem that someone with a lot of fame and money would have to stoop to drugging women to have sex. Honestly resisted believing what he had done until the evidence was so compelling that it was pretty much undeniable. Doesn't make any sense.
