Several former scientists and staff from companies like Johnson & Johnson JNJ, GlaxoSmithKline and Schiff Nutrition are bringing a new delivery platform to market that boosts the bioavailability of hemp cannabidiol or CBD.

According to the company, NextEvo, its SmartSorb technology not only turns oil-based CBD ingredients into water-soluble ingredients but also enables a higher load of active CBD ingredients.

“SmartSorb turns premium, hemp-derived CBD, which is usually oil-soluble, into a water-soluble–like (water-dispersible) emulsion and delivers the equivalent of four times the amount of CBD in oil-based formulations,” according to a company press release.

“While many products on the market claim water solubility and bioavailability of ingredients, NextEvo has demonstrated the superiority of its SmartSorb technology through evidence-based trials and will conduct additional trials this year.”

With the CBD market growing by leaps and bounds since the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, many available products don’t provide sufficient data that proves CBD bioavailability, delivery or potential effects.

“We aim to be pioneers in changing that and utilize our team of experts, many of whom have led decades of research and development on compound delivery at prestigious healthcare leaders such as Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithKline, to provide consumers with the best, evidence-backed products on the market,” John McDonagh, NextEvo Naturals CEO and president said in a press release.

The company offers three products featuring SmartSorb: Premium Pure CBD (10-mg, high-absorption CBD capsules), Premium Pure CBD Extra Strength (15-mg CBD capsules, also available in chewable tablets), and Triple Action Sleep (which combines 5 mg of Premium Pure CBD with controlled-release melatonin).

To develop, pre-launch and commercialize SmartSorb, NextEvo used proceeds from a $15 million investment round led by Intrinsic Capital Partners.

higher load of active CBD ingredients

CBD aka cannabidiol is one single cannabinoid. Not a bunch of ingrediants.

If they are claiming that a 20mg dose of CBD doesn't put 20mg of CBD in your blood stream, that is how all low dose. aka milligram dosing medicines work.

they all lose some of their potency through the bodies own filtering system aka the liver and kidneys.

A 300/25 codeine doesn't show 25mgs of codeine in your system. More likely it is closer to 18 or 19 mgs.

maybe this product helps absorb the last few mgs that the liver is filtering out though natural processes . . Just what that  mechanism is kind of bothers me.

Huma chemistry is better left to nature. We already have a natural - built in  ability to absorb cannabinoids and this needs to be left alone since the endo cannabinoid system represents

a large percentage of our immune systems. Too many "wizards" are coming up with all these "break throughs" that are not protecting us from whatever long term side effects they may have.

Even FDA approved newer medicines  quite often get pulled right back out off the market due to deaths and major illness and these new products are largely untested except  in control groups and not the general public where reality lives allergies and all the environmental factors not found in control groups.

There simply cannot be any long term studies because al these products are too new to have any, including CBD itself.

CBD cannot pass into your system through skin contact at all, no matter what these CBD carnival barkers say.

That is why it took PRC 2 1/2 years to develop a pain balm that can and does pass into your capillaries and van be measured with standard blood tests.

DMSO is mechanism that makes all time release  patches work and it is the same mechanism that makes PRC pain balm work so well.  :jay:

What I was initially wondering was whether this was a more efficient method to get the medicine to the receptors, or to create a gimmick niche product. When I read the article I noticed how this apparently "new knowledge" facilitates a new product.

So it's probably not a breakthrough then. Just as well, it seems it may have been extra steps and cost for no demonstrable improvement in anyones health.
